Discussion about Black Sabbath - Live At Hammersmith Odeon
Cobandis
This is an excellent Live recording by the best Metal Band on this planet . As much as i like the original Black Sabbath formation with Ozzy and Bill Ward, Vinny Appice on drums makes this Live recording a smashing sensation. Even Toni Iommi has to stand back in second line sometimes, when you hear the mighty drums, that fill your living room on the right rig. He drives the music like a 1000 horsepower motor. Of course the other members are no slouches either. Iommi's led killer riffs are known world wide for their precision and force. Geezer Butler is a longtime companion of Tony Iommi and they time their bass + lead guitar double attacks like a metronome . This was recorded in 1981, long before Metallica and other new Heavy Metal Bands made those guitar / bass guitar steamhammer riffs a typical part of the genre. They open this CD with a fine taste of those riffs... Finally a few words to Ronnie James Dio. He is definitely a killer shouter, not as extra ordinary as Ozzy, but he stands his ground on the newer material, but he can also sing War Pigs or Iron Man - the best Sabbath tracks ever - nearly as good as Ozzy in fine form and this means a lot. This is a real Live recording with sometimes distorted amps and everything that makes Live Hard Rock so exciting. You get everything you could possibly ask for with a Sabbath Live recording and even more....
