Notes
Recorded at Van Gelder Recording Studio, Englewood Cliffs; March 16; April 23,24 and 29; May 8, 20 and 22, 1970.#1-9: Original LP issue: Tide A&M SP 3031
#10-12 and index 2 of #13 previously unissued
Mastered at Universal Mastering Studios-East
Jobim appears on all tracks, playing guitar, piano, electric piano, or (by means of overdubbing) various combinations of those instruments. On the tracks that use overdubbing, he usually played guitar as part of the basic tracks and added the piano lines later.
Deodato also contributed some keyboard playing; he is the added player in the acoustic piano duet that concludes the master take of 'Tema Jazz'. That segment - played simultaneously on two different pianos (Jobim in the right channel and Deodato in the left), with no overdubs - was omitted from the original release by an early fadeout. It appears here as index two on track 13.
