Discussion about Röyksopp - Senior
Black_Hawk_Down.
SENIOR is the (mostly instrumental) accompaniment to Röyksopp’s JUNIOR, and it provides a sedate contrast to the more upbeat album. “…And the Forest Began to Sing” is an almost ambient introduction, but “Tricky Two” (essentially a dub version of “Tricky Tricky”) gets the beats moving. But for the most part, things stay at a calm tempo: “The Alcoholic” brings things back down for a guitar-driven, almost folksy, track that feels almost earnest in its sincerity. The slide guitar on “Senior Living” adds a touch of despondency, while “The Drug” is much more sedate than its name would suggest. “Forsaken Cowboy” lives up to its title, with some spectral country-western strumming, while “Coming Home” is a bucolic slice of life. The final track, “A Long, Long Way” returns to ambience, letting this curious mini-album drift off, like an ice floe floating in the Arctic Ocean. (That hidden track, though, is pretty creepy.)
