This album truly marks the watershed in the development of this formidable congregation - from cool to hard-bop. And from standards to self-written tunes. "Lotar" is surely a killer tune, a bit like "Monotonia" on the even better and more pulsating album "Best Modern Jazz in Italy 1962" (but "Walking" seems even more scarce). For me worth any price (at least for first pressings) - simply a must for any serious aficionado of European Jazz in the 60's, like most of the Basso-Valdambrini albums. Would compare it, in terms of musical relevance, to the modal milestones of the calibre of Rendell/Carr's "Shades of Blue"/"Dusk Fire" (even more financially ruining).
